| | Opening Minds was developed by the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) from the belief that the way young students are being educated was becoming increasingly detached from their real needs as citizens of the 21st century. The National Curriculum was deemed ‘information-driven’ and unable to cope with the increasing demands and volume of information needed to teach each subject. At the same time the range of ‘life skills’ including skills for learning, the ability to manage people and situations well, and good citizenship were being neglected. | | | Through an Opening Minds curriculum we will teach these ‘life-skills’ explicitly. We will base our curriculum on a framework of competences taken from the RSA that aims to meet our students’ individual needs and prepare them for a future in our rapidly changing world.
